LA PUENTE, CA – SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 – The Rowland Unified School District Board of Education is inviting the public to come tour and celebrate the completion of the Nogales High School Revitalization Project. The ceremony and public tours will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 5 p.m. and will include student entertainment, campus tours, and booths featuring the many expanded academic programs and enrichment activities now available on campus.
“We are excited to invite our community to see first-hand the new Nogales High School. Thanks to the support from our community through the passing of Measure R, Nogales High School is a college-like campus with state of the art educational facilities and a supportive, academic-driven environment,” said Angelena Pride, President of the Rowland Unified School District Board of Education.
The $34.7 million dollar modernization project includes four new state of the art buildings. These include a two story classroom building with 16 classrooms including four that can be configured as a “Super Classroom” allowing for much larger meeting space; a two story administrative building features offices on the first floor and eight classrooms on the second floor; an 11,500 square foot multipurpose building providing an indoor/outdoor stage area for student activities and a new ASB office. There is also a new 4,700 square foot food services building with covered dining for students, new kitchen and serving stations and staff lounge. New landscaping is throughout the campus including a beautiful campus quad with new seating areas for students, and the outside of the campus features a new student drop-off zone.
At the grand opening ceremony, the public will enjoy student entertainment by the award-winning Nogales Noble Regiment Band, Nogales Choir and Folklorico dance, along with information booths about academic programs such as International Baccalaureate, expanded Advanced Placement classes, Nogales Technology Academy, Nogales Success Academy and enrichment clubs and extra-curricular activities available for students.
