Los Angeles, CA--French Club and I Heart the Arts Club members traveled to The Directors Guild Theater Complex recently to participate in the 18th Annual City of Lights, City of Angles French Film Festival. One of the club advisers, Mrs. Takahashi said, "the students watch one full-length and one short feature film entirely in French. It gives them a chance to practice their comprehension and learn about French culture and arts."
The students have participated in several events this year as both clubs are among the most active at Nogales High School. The other adviser and AP/IB French teacher, Mr. Ramos added that "we discuss the film, the plot, the language. The visual medium helps them translate the language."
The French and I Heart the Arts Clubs have made it a priority to expose students to the arts and cultural diversity. Aligned with the Common Core standards and the integration of the 4 Cs--Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking--these sorts of extra-curricular activities have given these Nogales students a diverse and rich learning experience.
