Dear RUSD Families:

We are proud of the rich and diverse communities we serve that make Rowland Unified schools a special place in which to learn and work. This month we have been celebrating the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, Black History month and honoring our school counselors during School Counselor week.

Registration for the 2022-2023 School Year

We want to remind everyone that enrollment for the 2022-2023 is now open and we encourage you to share this information with your friends and neighbors. More information can be found about enrollment and the upcoming TK/Kindergarten and Dual Language Immersion Parent Information Meetings on March 8 at www.rowlandschools.org/enroll.

Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)

Each year we ask our students, staff and community to provide valuable input on the resources we provide for student success during our annual Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). Please mark your calendar to join us at our annual LCAP Community Meetings that will be held virtually on March 7 from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (March 7 Meeting Link) and March 22 from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  (March 22 Meeting Link). Meeting links above are also posted on school websites and shared on Parent Square.

COVID19 Updates

On February 16, 2022, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health updated its Health Order. The current Health Order no longer requires masking while outdoors at K-12 schools, youth sports or childcare settings. Masking is still recommended at crowded outdoor events. Therefore, masking is optional outdoors on our school campuses and work locations. Masks continue to be required indoors for all K-12 schools and school/district settings.

On February 28, the California Department of Public Health will reevaluate requirements in response to COVID-19, including the masking requirement in different settings. Once information is available from the State, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will review any updates in the State Health Order and determine if there will be any revisions for Los Angeles County and in particular to school districts. As information is available, we will continue to keep you informed.

Free Testing Kits: Every household can order four free tests from the US government by clicking on this link covidtests.gov.

Free Testing: It is important that we continue to be diligent and purposeful in our actions to maintain the health and safety of our staff and students. We encourage our families to utilize the free COVID-19 testing that is available at the Rowland Unified School District Office and provided by COVID Clinic. Testing is available Monday – Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. You must pre-register for testing on the District’s website rowlandschools.org or CLICK HERE. This testing is exclusively for our District students, staff and families.

Vaccine Clinic: COVID Clinic also now offers COVID vaccines, including pediatric vaccines and booster doses at the District Office every Friday by appointment only. To make an appointment CLICK HERE or visit rowlandschools.org/vaccine.

For the health and safety of everyone, it is imperative that you keep your student home from school if they are not feeling well, have any cold, allergy or flu symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and are not vaccinated. Testing kits are also available for students in the school office for those who are exposed or who are not feeling well.

If you have any questions regarding testing or quarantining, please email the RUSD COVID Response Team at [email protected].

We will continue to keep you updated and will work together to keep our students, staff and families safe. Thank you for your continued support.

With Gratitude,

Julie Mitchell, Ed.D.
